IDMC travel grants

Dear DM1 and DM2 investigators,

We received a generous fund from an anonymous donor to support travel costs of early career investigators. Eligible early career investigators include: graduate students, postdocs, residents, and clinical fellows.

1.     Up to $1,500 per lab will be awarded to support travel costs of trainees such as graduate students, residents, fellows, and postdocs. Each lab may send multiple trainees but will only receive up to $1,500 per lab regardless of the number of trainees.
2.     These trainees must give a platform and/or poster presentation at the IDMC-11 meeting. The IDMC-11 meeting is scheduled to occur in San Francisco, California from September 5-9, 2017.
3.     We will be able to support ~40 labs that will send their trainees to the IDMC meetings. For institutions with multiple DM Principal Investigators, more than one $1,500 travel award per institution can be provided. The fund will be awarded on the “first come first serve” basis and any remaining funds will be used to fund additional labs that did not make the initial cutoff.
4.     Houston Methodist will handle all disbursements for the travel awards. The lab of the trainee(s) must submit a copy of receipts following the meeting for travel expenses to Houston Methodist as supporting documentation for the awards. If the travel cost is lower than $1,500, the award amount will be lowered accordingly.
5.     To apply for this travel award, your students/fellows must have already registered for the IDMC-11 meeting and submitted an abstract. Registration and event information can be found at www.idmc11.org. Once this has been accomplished, have them send a copy of their IDMC-11 registration and abstract receipts and indicate their lab PI to my assistant, Chantel Potvin by email, if you would like to participate in this award opportunity.  Her email is cpotvin(at)houstonmethodist.org.

Sincerely,
